Tumblr is a microblogging and social networking website founded by David Karp in 2007 and owned by Yahoo! since 2013. The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog. Posts are limited to 250 characters, except for "notes" which are limited to 10,000 characters.
Tumblr has a user interface that allows users to follow other users' blogs, as well as "like" posts and reblog them. Posts can also be shared to other social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter.
The website has been compared to a hybrid of Blogger and Facebook. As of June 2013, Tumblr hosted over 175 million blogs.
